The Underhill Lecture is the centerpiece of the Anglo-American Studies Program at the Institute of Governmental Studies. The general theme of this lecture and of the Anglo-American Studies Program (AASP) is the evolving nature of the historic relationship between Great Britain and the United States, viewed through the lens of major news events in both countries.

The Anglo-American Studies Program was formed through a generous grant from the Anglo-California Foundation, which was created by R. Kirk Underhill, Cal 1928, a lifelong Anglophile.

This year’s Underhill Lecture is co-sponsored by the Center for British Studies, the Institute of European Studies, the Institute of International Studies, and the British American Business Council.
